The vision symbol illustrates that GoodNews church is called to be a place where people can come to find refuge and restoration. Many will come with significant needs; physical, emotional, and spiritual - GoodNews church has been called to be a place of healing. The focus of GoodNews church is to help people who come seeking refuge and restoration to learn to live with Jesus Christ as the central focus of their life (worship), and with the Word of God as the only authority by which they live. In this way they will develop the character of the Lord Jesus Christ in their own lives by the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit.
The life of the church depends on the strength of the relationship of believers to their Lord and this can only be achieved by actively co-operating with God through prayer and praise. These two activities, both corporate and individual, will bring about the reality of the life of Jesus Christ within us, as we learn to crucify our selfish desires and live our lives for the glory and praise of God.
The Vision of GoodNews Church
The vision of GoodNews church is to be a place where individual believers can be built into a body of believers that demonstrate the love, mercy, grace and Lordship of Jesus Christ to the world. We are called to be built together into a spiritual house, as described in 1 Peter 2:5.
The mission of GoodNews church has always been that it would be a place of teaching and training, building up the fellowship, equipping people to grow up into maturity in Christ Jesus. The purpose of such training and teaching can never be simply to increase the level of information, but also to release the impartation of the Holy Spirit, so that we are all prepared to be released into mission and ministry. In this way the gospel of Jesus Christ is never confined to the four walls of a building but will be proclaimed by all of us in every situation of our lives.
Indeed, by living lives in the power of the Holy Spirit, the fellowship of GoodNews Church will be offered to all in need of refuge and restoration, that they too may hear of the Good News of Jesus Christ, and may be saved and begin the journey to spiritual maturity themselves.
Acts 2: 41-47 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day. They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favour of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
